A new breed of Investors

June 27, 2012

If you’re trading the stock market, it pays to keep a level head. Research undertaken by an academic at Cambridge University shows that male traders’ judgement when deciding which way to trade is often clouded by aggression and stress caused by high levels of testosterone and cortisol. This isn’t the case with women traders, whose ability to keep calm when the time comes to make a big decision on their next trade is greater than their male counterparts.

This infographic by City Index shows that there’s been a massive increase in the number of female traders, and the fact that many of them yield significant annual profits from their trading activity is testament to their coolness when it comes to big decisions. It also proves that gender, age, occupation and social background are no barriers when it comes to being able to trade with success. Even a 94-year-old managed to make over £3,000 in profits.
