Sunday Loves

I spent the better part of this weekend sitting on the dock and trying to finish (edit) a copy of an end user agreement before it goes our legal department on Monday. I’ll tell you a little secret tho; I’m not sure that I’m not sure that I should be the person editing this as I have no idea what half of these words mean. Alas, we do what we must when we run a lean team.  Hopefully our lawyers will take pity on us and not set us up to fail.

Because editing and reading mindless work documents seemed to take away from the joy of being at the cottage, I naturally wandered over to Pinterest, and found some pretty things.  I was smart enough to bring ingredients to make Chocolate Raspberry Cream Cheesecake Bars.

This is why people love me.

You can find the recipe for the Chocolate Raspberry Cream Cheesecake Bars here.

I wish I was good at this whole DIY thing. I found a really cool way to make coasters.

The problem is that I don’t own any of these supplies and it might be cheaper for me to go out and buy readymade coasters. See what I did there? I tried to save money.

I also found some great reads this weekend, you can check them out below:

  • I was really looking forward to meeting Andy at FINCON this year, but he’s Skipping FinCon. His ticket is up for grabs at a discount is you’re thinking of going and havent bought yours yet. PS. you should go since I’m going and I’m pretty cool.
  • I wandered over to Lauren’s blog, and saw her post ” I’m not going to FinCon 2012″. She has a great reason, too, but I’m still disappointed that I wont get to meet her.
  • If you haven’t gone around to Jacob’s site yet, you should. He loves budgets, and he continues his Budget Friday  series with Crystal from Budgeting in the Fun Stuff.
  • I love travelling, so seeing Daisy’s post on Four Countries She’d Like to Live In made me smile. I’m not going to lie, I did end up looking vacation houses in Greece for a few minutes.
  • Michele asks, do you want to be self-employed? lI find myself in a rather interesting position where I am technically self-employed but I work on a contract basis bases for clients.

And the final thought….why do we hate Nickelback?

  • Lauren @ LBee and the Money Tree

Haha. Why DO we hate Nickleback? Did you see where Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne got engaged? I feel like it’s 2003 all over again. It’s really messing with my mind.

Thank you for the link lovin’. I am super sad I won’t get to meet you too, because as you said, you’re pretty cool :)

      The Chavis hashtag was hilarious.

  • Miss T @ Prairie Eco-Thrifter

Those bars look fabulous. I will have to check them out.

Thanks for including my post on SPF’s site this week in your round up. I really appreciate it.

    • Marissa

      Any time!

  • SavvyFinancialLatina

Thanks for the link love!!! School is fun. What degree are you thinking about?

    • Marissa

Possibly an MBA. I have my MSC. already and thinking about taking a break from (read: dropping out of my Phd program)

  • Michelle

    Thanks for the mention!

    • Marissa

      You’re welcome.

  • Modest Money

Marissa you just had to tempt me with another awesome looking desert. Those look so good. Anyways thanks for the mention. As for Nickelback it might have something to do with the singer seeming like a total douche lol.

    • Marissa

Is he? I like his music, but dont really pay attention to his behaviour.

      • Modest Money

No I don’t really pay much attention to his behavior either, but based on what he sings about and that brutal hair, he’s got douche written all over him. I do like his music too though.

  • Robert @ The College Investor

I don’t hate Nickelback like everyone else does…I just don’t like them either.

    • Marissa

      They have some catchy tunes.

  • Andy Hough

Thanks for including my post. I hope I get to meet you at next year’s FinCon.

    • Marissa

      I hope so too!

  • Shilpan

I love cheesecake. This seems to be a must desert for your happiness. :)

  • AverageJoe

That cake is sinful. I want to eat my monitor right now.

  • Jacob @ iheartbudgets

Nickelback is super, over-emotional gravely-voice singing garbage. That’s why :)

I love reading leagal-ease 9weird, I know), so I would have a blast with your end user agreements. Plus those deserts would make it so much easier to scrub 100-page docs. Hope you didn’t miss anything ;)

Thanks for the mention, glad you like the Budget Friday series!
